Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large ripe peaches, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 cups pulled pork
  • 1 package (12 rolls) Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Peel and dice the fresh peaches. Set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add diced peaches and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened and mashed slightly.
  3. Pour in the bourbon and simmer for 2 minutes to cook off alcohol. Add ketchup, apple cider vinegar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Whisk until sugar is dissolved.
  4. Sprinkle in garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Stir well.
  5. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. While the sauce simmers, warm the pulled pork in a skillet or microwave. Stir in about half of the bourbon peach BBQ sauce to coat the pork.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the package of Hawaiian sweet rolls in half horizontally, keeping them connected.
  8. Place the bottom half of the rolls on a sheet pan. Pile the warm, sauced pork onto the buns. Drizzle with extra sauce.
  9. Place the top half of the buns back on. Mix melted butter with sesame seeds and brush generously over the tops.
  10. Cover the sheet pan tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes.
  11. Remove foil and bake for another 2-3 minutes until tops are golden brown.
  12. Let rest for 2 minutes, then cut between rolls to separate and serve immediately.

Notes

If fresh peaches are unavailable, high-quality canned peaches in juice can be used; drain well. For a spicy kick, add cayenne pepper or hot sauce. The sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Do not freeze assembled sliders as the buns will become soggy.
