A simple, 5-ingredient fall dessert made by dumping pumpkin pie filling, cake mix, and spices into a baking dish, topped with a crunchy pecan streusel. It is a forgiving, crowd-pleasing treat perfect for busy weeknights or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (15 oz) pumpkin pie filling
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, combine pumpkin pie filling, heavy cream, and cinnamon. Swirl to mix.
  3. Sprinkle half of the dry yellow cake mix (about 1 cup) evenly over the pumpkin mixture. Do not stir.
  4. Pour 1/2 cup of melted butter evenly over the dry cake mix layer.
  5. In a separate bowl, toss the remaining half of the cake mix, brown sugar, and pecans with 1/4 cup of melted butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Sprinkle the pecan streusel evenly over the buttered cake mix layer.
  7. Bake for 45-55 minutes until the top is golden brown and edges are bubbling.
  8. Cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Toast pecans for enhanced flavor. If edges brown too quickly, tent with foil. The top will look dry before baking but will moisten as it cooks. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 3 days or frozen for 2 months.
