A rich, flavorful, and addictive slow cooker chicken recipe featuring bacon, ranch seasoning, cream cheese, and cheddar. Perfect for busy weeknights and crowd-pleasing meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) ranch seasoning mix
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional garnish: chopped green onions or parsley

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 8 minutes. Drain on paper towels and crumble once cool.
  2. Place chicken breasts evenly in the slow cooker. Slice thick breasts in half horizontally if desired for faster cooking.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, ranch seasoning mix, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until smooth.
  4. Pour the creamy ranch sauce evenly over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the chicken, then add crumbled bacon on top.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours until chicken reaches 165°F and is tender enough to shred.
  7. Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker using two forks and stir to coat with sauce.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley before serving. Serve hot over rice, mashed potatoes, or toasted bread.
  9. If sauce is thin after shredding, cook uncovered on high for 15-20 minutes to thicken.

Notes

Let cream cheese soften at room temperature or microwave briefly to avoid lumps. Do not add raw bacon directly to slow cooker; cook it first for crispiness. Avoid lifting lid during cooking to maintain heat. If sauce is too thin after cooking, thicken by cooking uncovered on high for 15-20 minutes. Season chicken lightly with salt if ranch seasoning is mild.
