Achieve restaurant-quality crispy chicken wings at home using an air fryer. This recipe uses a two-stage cooking process to ensure shattering crunch before tossing in a sweet, spicy, and savory honey sriracha glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split at the joint
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon aluminum-free baking powder
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoons sriracha chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons pure honey
  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 2 stalks green onions, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels and place them in a large bowl.
  2. Drizzle vegetable oil over the wings and sprinkle baking powder evenly. Toss until lightly coated.
  3. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  4. Arrange wings in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring no stacking.
  5. Cook wings for 12 minutes, then flip them over carefully using tongs.
  6. Continue cooking for another 10-12 minutes until skin is golden brown and crispy and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. While wings cook, combine minced garlic, grated ginger, sriracha, honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until honey dissolves and sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
  8. Transfer hot wings to a clean bowl. Pour warm sauce over wings and toss gently but quickly to coat.
  9. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure wings are completely dry before seasoning to maximize crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation. Always add sauce after cooking to prevent burning and maintain crunch. For a gluten-free version, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos.
