A quick and flavorful salmon recipe featuring a sticky honey-garlic soy glaze that bakes perfectly in just 20 minutes. Perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets (6 ounces / 170 grams each)
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (preferably low sodium)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced fresh
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Thinly sliced green onions, for garnish (optional)
  • Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, sesame oil, and rice vinegar until well combined and shiny.
  4. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  5. Place salmon fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a small gap between each piece.
  6. Brush the glaze generously over the top of each fillet, reserving a little glaze for basting if desired.
  7. Season lightly with freshly ground black pepper.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, depending on fillet thickness, until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  9. Optional: Halfway through baking, brush the salmon again with reserved glaze for an extra sticky finish.
  10. Remove from the oven and let rest for 2 minutes to allow juices to redistribute and glaze to set.
  11. Serve garnished with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before glazing to ensure the glaze sticks well and the skin crisps up. Watch the oven closely near the end to prevent the honey from burning. Optional basting halfway through baking enhances the sticky glaze. Leftover glaze can be saved as a dipping sauce or drizzle for vegetables. For gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos. Maple syrup can replace honey for a different sweetness but may reduce stickiness.
