A quick and easy refreshing summer drink combining juicy watermelon, cooling mint, and a hint of lime for a perfectly balanced and hydrating beverage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups (900g) seedless watermelon, cubed and chilled
  • 1015 fresh mint leaves, gently bruised
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (from about 1 large lime)
  • 1 cup (240ml) filtered water
  • 12 tablespoons agave syrup or honey (optional)
  • Ice cubes, as needed for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut about 6 cups (900g) of seedless watermelon into cubes and chill them in the fridge for at least an hour before blending.
  2. Place the chilled watermelon cubes into your blender with 1 cup (240ml) of filtered water. Blend on high speed for about 1-2 minutes until smooth and slightly frothy.
  3. Optional: Pour the blended watermelon through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher to remove pulp, pressing with a spatula to extract juice.
  4. Stir in 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice. Lightly bruise the mint leaves and add them to the pitcher.
  5. Add 1-2 tablespoons of agave syrup or honey if desired. Stir well and adjust sweetness and lime to taste.
  6. Let the agua fresca chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to allow the mint to infuse its flavor.
  7. Serve over ice cubes, garnished with a sprig of fresh mint or a thin lime wheel.

Notes

Use ripe, juicy watermelon for best flavor. Straining is optional depending on texture preference. Add sweetener gradually to avoid overpowering the fresh flavors. Do not blend mint leaves to avoid bitterness. Best served fresh but can be stored up to 24 hours in the fridge.
