These frosty blue raspberry jello shot stars are a festive, fun treat perfect for parties and gatherings, combining a vibrant tart flavor with a smooth, icy texture in a charming star shape.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (3 oz) package blue raspberry gelatin mix (Knox recommended)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka (plain or flavored, e.g., Tito’s)
  • Ice cubes (for chilling mixture)
  • Nonstick cooking spray (for greasing molds)
  • Optional: blue sugar sprinkles (for frosty sparkle)
  • Optional: pinch of citric acid powder (to boost tartness)

Instructions

  1. Boil 1 cup (240 ml) of water and pour it over the blue raspberry gelatin powder in a mixing bowl. Stir briskly for about 2 minutes until completely dissolved with no graininess.
  2. Stir in 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water and 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka gently but thoroughly. Add a pinch of citric acid powder if extra tartness is desired.
  3. Lightly spray the star-shaped silicone mold with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  4. Carefully pour the gelatin mixture into each star cavity, filling almost to the top but leaving a tiny gap to avoid overflow.
  5. Place the mold in the refrigerator and chill for at least 3 hours, ideally 4, until firm. For faster setting, briefly place the mold in the freezer after 2 hours, then return to the fridge to avoid freezing solid.
  6. Gently press each star out of the mold. If desired, sprinkle lightly with blue sugar sprinkles for a frosty, festive look.
  7. Serve immediately or keep chilled until serving. Best enjoyed within 24 hours but can be stored up to 2 days in the refrigerator.

Notes

Use boiling water to fully dissolve gelatin for best texture. Measure alcohol carefully to ensure proper setting. Lightly spray molds with nonstick spray for easy removal. For firmer jello shots, reduce vodka slightly or increase gelatin by half a teaspoon. Can be made non-alcoholic by substituting vodka with lemon-lime soda or sparkling water. Fresh blueberries can be pressed into stars before chilling for added flavor.
