A quick and flexible snack board featuring apples, peanut butter, granola, and dark chocolate. Perfect for bridging the hungry gap between lunch and dinner, this 5-minute recipe keeps kids full and happy with wholesome ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji recommended)
  • ½ cup natural peanut butter (or almond butter/sunflower seed butter)
  • 1 cup granola (low-sugar, with clusters)
  • ½ cup dark chocolate (70% cacao or higher, chopped or chips)
  • Optional: pretzels, dried apricots, cinnamon, flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice the apples: Rinse apples, cut into halves, then into wedges about ½ inch thick. Remove core and seeds. Toss with lemon juice if prepping ahead.
  2. Prepare the peanut butter: Stir well if separated. Spoon ½ cup into a small bowl. Microwave for 15 seconds for a drizzle consistency if desired.
  3. Measure the granola: Scoop 1 cup into a small bowl or pile directly on the board. Break up large clusters with fingers.
  4. Prepare the dark chocolate: Chop a bar into ½-inch chunks or measure ½ cup of chips into a small bowl.
  5. Arrange the board: Place peanut butter bowl in center. Fan apple wedges around it. Add granola and chocolate in separate piles. Tuck optional add-ins into gaps.
  6. Serve immediately: Let everyone build their own combinations. Enjoy within 10-15 minutes for best texture.

Notes

Slice apples just before serving to prevent browning. For prep ahead, toss apple slices with lemon juice. Use a variety of textures for best results. A pinch of flaky sea salt enhances flavors. Let kids help arrange for more engagement. Store leftover components separately; assembled board does not store well.
