Instructions

  2. In a separate chilled bowl, whip the cold heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  3. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until airy and smooth.
  4. Rinse and dry all berries well. Slice the strawberries thinly for layering.
  5. Spread a thin layer of the cream cheese mixture evenly on the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish.
  6. Arrange a single layer of vanilla wafers over the cream, fitting them snugly.
  7. Spread about one-third of the remaining cream cheese mixture over the wafers.
  8. Carefully arrange blueberries and strawberries on one half of the dish to mimic the flag’s stripes and stars placement, using blueberries mostly for the star section and strawberries/raspberries for the red stripes.
  9. Repeat layering wafers, cream mixture, and berries, finishing with a final cream cheese layer on top.
  10. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow wafers to soften and flavors to meld.
  11. Before serving, dust with powdered sugar and garnish with fresh mint leaves.
