  • 1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) creamy coconut vodka
  • Blue Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue raspberry flavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) boiling water
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) cold water
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) creamy coconut vodka

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: In a medium bowl, pour 1/2 cup boiling water over the red gelatin powder. Whisk until completely dissolved, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add 1/4 cup cold water and 1/4 cup creamy coconut vodka. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Pour the red mixture evenly into shot cups, filling about one-third of each cup (approximately 1 oz or 30 ml per cup).
  4. Place the tray in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes or until the layer is firm but still slightly tacky.
  5. Prepare the White Layer: Sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over 1/4 cup cold water and let it bloom for 5 minutes.
  6. Heat 1/2 cup boiling water and pour it over the bloomed gelatin. Stir until completely dissolved.
  7. Stir in 1 cup sweetened condensed milk and 1/4 cup creamy coconut vodka until smooth.
  8. Carefully spoon or ladle the white mixture over the red layer, filling another one-third of the cup.
  9. Refrigerate for another 20-25 minutes, until this layer is set.
  10. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve the blue raspberry gelatin in 1/2 cup boiling water, whisking until smooth.
  11. Add 1/4 cup cold water and 1/4 cup creamy coconut vodka, stirring gently.
  12. Pour the blue mixture on top of the white layer, filling to the top of each cup.
  13. Return to the refrigerator and chill for at least 30 minutes, or until fully set.
  14. Serve chilled. Optionally garnish with fresh berries or tiny American flags.

Notes

Bloom the unflavored gelatin before dissolving to avoid lumps. Pour layers slowly and close to the surface to prevent mixing. Chill each layer until firm but tacky before adding the next. Use creamy coconut vodka for smooth flavor. For non-alcoholic version, substitute vodka with coconut water or extra cold water. Dairy-free white layer can be made with canned coconut milk and maple syrup.
