This quick spooky Halloween punch with dry ice fog is dead simple, takes five minutes to throw together, and creates that dramatic fog effect without any fancy equipment. Just a punch bowl, some dry ice, and about five ingredients you can grab at any grocery store.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cranberry juice (unsweetened or regular)
  • 4 cups orange juice (fresh-squeezed or store-bought)
  • 2 cups pineapple juice
  • 2 cups ginger ale or lemon-lime soda
  • 1 cup simple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • 2–3 pounds dry ice
  • Ice cubes (regular ice)
  • Frozen plastic spiders or eyeballs (optional, for garnish)
  • Fresh orange slices (optional, for garnish)
  • Cinnamon sticks (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Mix the juice base: In your punch bowl or a large pitcher, combine 4 cups cranberry juice, 4 cups orange juice, and 2 cups pineapple juice. Stir gently to combine. This can be done up to 24 hours ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
  2. Add the fizz: Just before serving, pour in 2 cups ginger ale or lemon-lime soda. Stir gently — you don’t want to lose all the carbonation. If you’re using simple syrup, add it now and stir again.
  3. Add regular ice: Drop in a handful of regular ice cubes. This keeps the punch cold and helps slow down the dry ice sublimation so the fog lasts longer. Don’t overdo it — too much ice will water down the punch.
  4. Prepare the dry ice: Put on your gloves or grab your tongs. If your dry ice is in one large block, break it into smaller chunks (about the size of golf balls). You want pieces that will fit easily into the punch bowl without touching the sides.
  5. Add the dry ice: Carefully drop 2-3 chunks of dry ice into the punch bowl. Stand back and watch the fog roll out. It will start immediately and continue for about 10-15 minutes per chunk. Add more chunks as needed throughout your party.
  6. Garnish and serve: Add your frozen plastic spiders, orange slices, or cinnamon sticks if using. Ladle the punch into cups, being careful not to scoop up any dry ice pieces. The dry ice should stay in the bowl — it’s not meant to be consumed.

Notes

Never touch dry ice with bare hands; use tongs or gloves. Ensure the punch bowl is not airtight to allow fog to escape. Add dry ice just before serving for the most dramatic effect. For adult parties, add 1-2 cups of vodka, white rum, or bourbon. For a kid-safe version, skip the simple syrup and use all juice.
